WHAT I’M UP TO …
As many of you know, the Pens got eliminated from the playoffs. I was very sad but honestly, making it to the playoffs at all was a gift. The entire season they had was a gift. Last fall, they were predicted to be the worst team in the league. Making it to the playoffs with Sid, Geno, and Tanger all there and healthy was impressive and I am so glad they got that again. I had to mourn for a bit and step away from hockey. While I did, I worked on puzzles, plus went hiking and s

TREES & FLOWERS
It’s spring, and although we’ve already had some hellishly hot days here in Michigan, we’ve also had some lovely ones that feel like a nice relaxing spring day should. Sunny, but cool with a light breeze. On Sunday, I went for a three-mile hike. The trees are nearly all leafed out and the wildflowers were blooming and it was great to be out in the fresh air. I have plans to go hiking with a friend in a couple of weeks as well and I am really looking forward to it. You may

WHAT I’M UP TO …
It’s funny the difference a week can make! Tanner & Leif are behaving (for now) and words are flowing again on Game Misconduct. The Penguins won their last two games and forced a game six. knock on wood but here’s hoping they drag it to a game 7 on Saturday! The odds are not in their favor historically, but as I said last week, they do have a tendency to be dramatic, so … fingers are firmly crossed again! Let’s go, Pens! WHAT I’M UP TO …
It’s Wednesday when I’m writing this and my beloved Penguins are struggling in the postseason. They’ve lost the first two games against Philly and let me tell you, I was NOT prepared for this. Apparently, neither was my mom because the other day she said, "You need to tell them to get it together! I was counting on them for some happiness because the rest of the world is pretty awful right now. They're just going to have to win the Stanley Cup. For my sake." I replied, "I'

Thank you so much! There are always nerves before I release a book. I wonder if I “got it right” and worry I might let readers down, especially ones who have been dying for Luke’s story for so long. But I couldn ’t be happier with the reviews coming in for Cheap Shot . You LOVED Luke & Sebastian’s story. I talked about that in yesterday's post , but now let's talk about what else I’ve been up to lately! I attended the Hockey Night with the Grand Rapids Griffins event on Sa

WHAT I’M UP TO …
So, this has been a rough week, huh? Let’s all take a deep breath, hold it for a few seconds, then breathe out slowly together. It’s been incredibly hard to focus on writing and promoting books. Lately, I’ve been able to create some compartmentalization where I do what I can, when I can (calling reps, showing up to protests, making donations) but try to be 100% present for my writing and all of the other parts of being an author. Some of it comes from spite. I REFUSE to let

WHAT I’M UP TO …
It’s been both a fun and challenging week! I started planning and writing my latest book and planning the next series, which is always great fun. I also attended a really cool networking event with my cousin and ran across a fellow Loon (Heated Rivalry fan, if you’re not familiar with the lingo). I met someone who is going to introduce to me to a sapphic writer in the Michigan area, so it will be nice to connect with more local queer authors. I also got taken out by a migrain

WHAT I’M UP TO …
I am back from my road trip! I had a fabulous time in Chicago and Minneapolis. At Sports Romance Con, I was able to sign books, meet readers, and do Heated Rivalry trivia! I hung out with Julie, who worked her butt off as my PA for the weekend, met people I’ve only talked to online, and connected with other authors. In Chicago, I got to visit friends, eat delicious food, stay in my favorite hotel, visit Shedd Aquarium and the American Writers Museum. All of it is such a great

WHAT I’M UP TO …
Can you believe it’s March already?? I’m in ‘prep for Sports Romance Con’ mode this week! I’m getting everything organized for that, like making sure paperbacks are on their way to Minneapolis, swag is ordered, and trying to come up with an outtake or bonus short I could write as an incentive for people who sign up for this newsletter. So far, I’m drawing a blank though. Not to worry though, if I do come up with some ideas, you’ll definitely be able to read it as well. So, if

I hope you’re doing well! I’ll be honest, this was a rough week. I was glad to finish Cheap Shot but the current men’s US hockey situation has me feeling very angry. See yesterday’s post for more on that. I also attended an anti-ICE protest and began prepping for Sports Romance Con in a few weeks. I will be watching sled hockey in the upcoming Paralympics and I am really looking forward to that. I will begin planning the sixth and final book in the Scoring Chances series a

I’M PISSED
I would imagine you’re as disgusted as I am by the behavior of the US men’s hockey team. Partying with Kash Patel, laughing at Trump’s “jokes” about the women’s team, and going to the White House and State of the Union address are horrible choices, but not surprising ones. To be frank, I expected this. It’s why I was rooting for Team Canada. I didn’t want to have to watch NHL players cozy up to a man who is a fascist dictator and pedophile. To be very clear, I am not implying

WHAT I’M UP TO …
I am back in Michigan and settling in. It’s been a little bit of a weird schedule for me because I’m thoroughly immersed in Olympic hockey. I’ve been watching both men’s and women’s hockey and rooting for Team Canada for both. It’s been a lot of fun, even if it’s very very stressful. I think the OT win for the men’s team against Czechia almost killed me. I am also very excited to announce that Delayed Penalty is available in audio. If you haven't listened to the rest of

By the time you read this, I will be back home in Michigan! I had a lovely time in New Mexico. Unfortunately, my bestie has had a bit of a rough time lately. She had to put her cat down and lost both her uncle and one of her neighbors in the span of a week and a half or so. It was a tough one, but I was glad I could be there for her during it. We made the best of it though and drove up to the top of the Sandia Mountains to view the city from the crest at 10,000 feet, me

Thank you to everyone who’s sent supportive messages about me closing my shop last Friday to stand in solidarity with Minneapolis. I suspect it’s something I will need to do again in the future, and I will keep you updated about when that happens. In the meantime, I’m still in Albuquerque. My bestie and I went for a snowy hike in the Sandia Mountains and drove up to Santa Fe to go thrift/consignment store shopping with a friend of ours. We also went for a hike in the Jeme

NATIONAL SHUTDOWN
If you’ve read my books or spent any amount of time getting to know me, you should know by now that I do not support this administration, ICE, or anything that is being done to the people of Minneapolis (or anywhere else). If you were somehow previously unaware, I want to make it abundantly clear that if you support what they are doing to people in Minneapolis, I have no interest in your readership. Writing and reading is inherently political. As a queer person, as some

WHAT I’M UP TO …
This past week has been a whirlwind packing for my trip to Albuquerque. I always kinda forget how much work it is to pack for a trip where I’ll be gone for a MONTH. Thankfully, since I’m staying with friends that whole time, I can do laundry. But when I’ll be hiking, going to a goth ball, sightseeing, and working, I have to prepare for everything! Wish me luck. I use an airline miles credit card for pretty much everything, then pay it off every month, so I accumulate mil

It’s been quite a week! I went to not one, but TWO hockey games on Saturday. I took my parents to a noon game in Detroit to cheer on the Pittsburgh Penguins when they beat Detroit, then met up with a friend who had free tickets to a 7pm University of Michigan game where they beat the USNTDP (national development program) team. If you want to see my adventures, check out my pics on Instagram . I am also preparing for my annual trip to Albuquerque to visit my bestie and her fam

I hope you enjoyed your holidays! Mine were good. I went to a game night with friends on New Year’s Eve and then hung out with another friend I haven’t seen in a while on New Year’s Day. Nothing too crazy but it was a really fun and relaxing way to ring in the new year. If you want to read about how I wrapped up 2025 and how I am planning to start 2026, read yesterday’s post here . WRAPPING UP 2025
It’s difficult to wrap up a year like this one. It was a struggle most of the way through for me in so many ways. Losing my friend Helena at the end of last year, losing my aunt, losing a friend … I carried a lot of grief with me. The state of the world in general and of the United States in particular caused an enormous amount of stress. And yet, there were bright spots. Running the shop in addition to my writing was challenging but fun overall. I had a few misstep

If you celebrated one of the many winter holidays, I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing time! If you’re looking to escape the madness of the season with a book, keep reading for some great promos! I went to see the Saginaw Spirit hockey game with a friend last weekend. We had a BLAST. As the friend I went with described it, it was a “fast, sloppy, and dirty” game. She wasn’t wrong. At one point, there were three players in each penalty box … They also did a teddy bear tos
