WHAT I’M UP TO …

A seafoam green coffee cup is in front of a hand holding a pen writing in a notebook. The text reads, "WHAT I'M UP TO..." and the date.

My parents are back from vacation which means that I am FINALLY back to my normal schedule. It’s a good thing too because I was about to have a fucking meltdown.

Last weekend, I attended Artoberfest in Ann Arbor. The city holds a HUGE art fair in the summer and while it’s amazing, I find it really overwhelming. Parking is a nightmare, there are over 1,000 artists there, and the weather is always beastly hot in mid-July. No thank you.

I think the A2 Artoberfest may be new-ish but it was delightful! Parking was easy, there were less than 100 artists, and the weather was in the 60s with a light breeze. PERFECT.

I bought a few pieces of art and enjoyed a glass of pear ginger cider along with a bratwurst with sauerkraut for lunch (channeling my inner Mickey, maybe?). I even caught the tail end of the farmer’s market and bought myself a pretty bouquet of flowers! It was a lovely day out.

Did I overdo it with my knee? Maybe.

Was it worth it? Yes.

So, yeah. My knee is healing but not 100% yet. It’s improving a lot faster now that I’m not going out to the barn twice a day.

Until I get the all clear from my doc, I am focused on exercising in ways that allow me to stay seated or lie on my yoga mat. Gentle movement is good, a lot of weight-bearing exercises are less than ideal until it’s fully recovered. Bah. It’s driving me crazy. I can only imagine how hockey players feel when they’re on injured reserve!

Keep reading for Snowball’s Chance in audio.

In the meantime, want to know what else I’ve been working on?

Writing/Editing:

  • Delayed Penalty is really coming together now. I am about a week/week and a half behind schedule. Technically the book is supposed to be done by the 21st. THAT’s not going to happen but there’s a reason I always leave some wiggle room at the end just to be safe! Worst case scenario, I will rent a hotel for a couple of days and just focus on nothing but writing to get it wrapped up. I prefer a more leisurely finish but alas, not all books (or life) cooperate!

Audio:

  • I’m reviewing the last of the Slew Foot audio chapters. We’ll be ready in plenty of time for the November release!

Projects:

Did you know that I recently released a sweet little slice of life moment bonus short here on my website? It features Zane & Ryan from Road Rules and is FREE and available to read here.

See you back here next week!
