Can you believe it? Rafe & Mickey’s story is here! 

I had such fun with these boys. 

This entire story was inspired by a trade that happened in Pittsburgh last year. Ryan Graves is one of the Pens defensemen. He’s a big boy but very soft-spoken and uhh, not playing terribly well. They brought in Vincent Desharnais, an even BIGGER defenseman to be his d-partner.  

They had a couple of really good games together and there was an interview after one where a reporter asked something about their chemistry together. Vinny gave them a cute little smile and said that it worked because Gravy was ordering him around on the ice and telling him exactly where to go. 

All of the Pens fans I knew went, “Gravy?? Our quiet Nova Scotian Gravy was bossing this giant man around?”  

Unfortunately, their chemistry kinda fizzled out, Gravy went back to being terrible, and Vinny was traded not too long after. It immediately sparked a full story idea for me though. I’ve been patiently waiting to tell it until now and I hope you will enjoy my version of what would happen if a giant himbo hockey player got traded to Boston and immediately found professional and personal chemistry with his D-partner.  

The story was very fun for me as well because my great-grandparents grew up in Germany, so I incorporated a few bits of family lore into Mickey’s background.  

I really, really hope you will enjoy this slow burn (but a little kinky) hockey romance between a demisexual himbo hockey player and his German-born D-partner who likes to order him around.
