LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN!

Not only am I counting down the days until the Slew Foot release (you can pre-order that here) I am counting down the days until Penguins hockey begins.
The first pre-season game is on September 22nd and the season officially kicks off on October 7th.
I am debating if I’m going to go to the pre-season game on the 29th when the Penguins come to Detroit to play the Red Wings. I am very tempted but I’d have to go by myself.
My parents will be out of town on vacation, and my friends and other family will be busy that night. Boo.
In general, I don’t mind flying solo at events but it’s not as much fun for a hockey game, especially at an away game. Plus, it’s so early in the pre-season, I suspect the big boys (Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, & Kris Letang) won’t be traveling with the team and playing.
There are tons of other guys it would be fun to see but I’m very on the fence about the whole thing. It may come down to waiting until the last minute and seeing if I can snag a decent ticket and parking. And my mood.
If I don’t go, you can bet I’ll be watching on TV though. This has been the LONGEST off-season for me, and I am so impatient to start watching again. Will my beloved flightless birds be very good this year? Unlikely! But I’ll watch and love them anyway.
To celebrate all of this hockey goodness (real and imaginary) coming up, I’ve been hard at work on a very big project that I am super excited about.
It’s a secret for now but it’s something I’ve been talking about doing FOR YEARS. It’s hockey related and I really hope you’ll be as thrilled with the idea as I’m ready to share it with you.
I also got some GREAT news from Colleen Malley, the illustrator I worked with to create the amazing character art for the Evanston River Otters and Toronto Fisher Cats players. She needed a bit of a break but is back and ready to get started on the art for the Boston Harriers in October.
Eee! I am so excited.
There are no official dates for when those will launch but I am starting to get things together so she can hit the ground running in October.
There are so many fun things to look forward to and I hope you’ll join me for them!
