JUST THE BASICS
Brigham Vaughn is an LGBTQ+ romance author. Her books explore gay, bisexual, lesbian, and polyamorous romance in contemporary settings.
Brigham has been published for eight years and has released over two dozen titles. She is currently working on expanding her books into foreign language translations and audio.

WHY LGBTQ+ ROMANCE?
"I write LGBTQ+ Romance because everyone deserves a happily ever after. Everyone deserves to see themselves as the hero in a story.
Growing up, I didn’t even realize bisexuality existed. It wasn’t until college that I learned what it was. Even then, it was rare to see it portrayed positively in books or on television or in the movies.
Exploring bisexuality in my writing gave me a way to understand myself better and reach out to others like me. To find a sense of community and pride in who I was.
One of the most meaningful moments to me was at a local Pride event when a young man approached the table where I sold paperback books with fellow queer authors.
He looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, 'I never knew there were books like this for people like me'.
That has been my driving force ever since: writing stories for the readers who had no idea there were happy endings for people like them."
HOW SHE GOT HERE
"Although reading books has always been a favorite pastime, I took a meandering path to becoming a full-time author.
In college, I studied psychology and studio art with thoughts of becoming an art therapist. In my spare time, I wrote some truly terrible poetry, and began a few novels I never finished.
Unsure of what I wanted to be when I grew up, I floundered for a while, working in a hospital to pay the bills while writing fanfiction for fun. Friends pushed me to submit my original fiction to a publisher, but I wasn’t ready to take the leap.
When a terrible boss made me realize that working a tradition 9 to 5 job wasn’t for me, I finally submitted a short gay romance story to an open anthology through a small gay publishing company.
I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
It was accepted immediately.
Over the moon with excitement that I could really do this, I wrote several more short stories and a friend showed me the basics of self-publishing. In no time at all, it was full steam ahead with my writing.
For years, I merrily wandered along with no idea what I was doing, writing with much passion but little business sense.
Over the years, I slowly figured out how to balance the two and am delighted to say that all of that hard work is coming together into a successful, thriving life as a full-time author.
I may have stumbled into my career but at the end of the day, I can't imagine doing anything else."
MICHIGAN LGBTQ+ AUTHORS
Brigham was born in the state of Michigan and has lived here her whole life.
Many of her books are set in the Midwest and explore the charms and quirks of the area. Her happy place is by the water, preferably in the shade with a good book!
She is active in the local LGBTQ+ writers community and attends book signings and Pride events whenever possible.

WHAT ELSE
Although sometimes it feels like she eats, breathes, and sleeps writing, Brigham works hard to find a healthy balance in her life.
In her spare time, she loves to cook and bake. She makes a killer key lime pie, hates green peppers, and love wine tasting and discovering unusual flavors of gin.
Her favorite ways to be active are hiking and swimming, and she hasn't let her long torso and short arms stop her from doing yoga.
She also enjoys poking around in antique shops and refinishing thrift store furniture. Endlessly fascinated by anything creative, she dabbles in watercolor painting and photography.
She dreams of traveling the world and she can't wait to discover everything else life has to offer.
